This is about as viral as a story like this can get. I gotta admit it’s interesting, at the very least.
Earlier today I blogged this video of a mysterious flying object seen in the skies over Georgia.
Via Google alert I just learned of this report (linked above) out of Gainesville, GA, about 35-40 miles North of the ATL Metro:
Hall County Sheriff’s deputies are patrolling the county in response to multiple reports of a mysterious noise.
A number of residents have called 911 to report hearing a loud noise and feeling the ground vibrate between 10 and 11 this morning.
Most of the reports come from in and around the area of Browns Bridge and McEver Roads, according to Maj. Jeff Strickland.
As yet, the source of the noise has not been determined.
Officials at Dobbins Air Reserve didn’t seem to think the noise wasn’t related to aircraft connected to their base.
CNN Live UFO Broadcast! Mesa Arizona, July 2011- ANALYSIS- Simply Baffling! (by DISCL0SUR3)
Is it an electrostatic phenomenon related to the moving wall of earth? They don’t move like your average aircraft; are they bona fide Unidentified Flying Objects? Some freaky birds and shit?
I can’t quickly punch a hole in this one.
Read the whole thing, of course, but here’s your WTF paragraph:
This is where [Josef] Mengele enters the story. The Nazi doctor, who experimented on prisoners in Auschwitz and fled to South America after the war, was supposedly enlisted to create a crew of “grotesque, child-size aviators” in return for a eugenics laboratory.
The book says that the plane was filled with “alien-like” children, aged 12 or 13, who Stalin wanted to land in America and cause hysteria similar to the 1938 broadcast. But, the plane, remotely piloted by another aircraft, crashed and the Americans hushed up the incident.
Rare UN UFO Hearing 1978 footage (by openmindstv)
OpenMinds.TV uncovered this fascinating footage of an “official UFO Hearing” held at the UN by the UN Special Political Committee in November, 1978. It’s only a bit over a minute long but shows famed UFOlogist J. Allen Hynek addressing the assembled dignitaries. More from OpenMinds:
The official UFO Hearing held at the United Nations Special Political Committee on November 28, 1978 was undoubtedly one of the great milestones in the history of ufology, particularly when it comes to its recognition by key international institutions. While photos of this event have been published many times, I am not aware of any footage ever been shown in a UFO documentary or news story. Last week I received a box of old videos that had somehow gotten separates from the rest of my UFO collection, and while looking at the videotapes, I rediscovered one that had been given to me many years ago by the late Colman von Keviczky, the director of ICUFON (Intercontinental UFO Network) and veteran New York ufologist. The tape included raw footage of the UN UFO Hearing and press conference shot by Colman himself, who was a professional cameraman.
It seems UFOs may have been taken more seriously some 33 years ago than they are today.
